Hi Fellow Buellers
I have met a few of you now so those who know me have also met my X1.
My only problem with it has been me and my misses like to go on camping weekends and she has had to carry all the gear on her back which you can imagine don't go down to well. @ the mo i cant really afford a 2nd bike and there is no way I'm parting with this one so I have been looking into how to attach luggage without ruining my pride & joy.
lent me a pannier rack to weigh up making a removable version but i couldn't bring myself to cutting holes in my carbon tail tidy so i have come up with this simple solution.Two drop on panels made of a piece of stainless plate folded in half and riveted together at the bottom.They hang on the tail and through the helmet lock hooks.
Having the plate folded and riveted makes the stainless act as a spring and so gives it strength. Also to remove you just lift off the seat and un hang the plates!
I bought some ex army canvas panniers and just need to do a little modification to have them hang nicely and I think I have cracked it
Check the pictures as I'm sure there is more tuber riders out there who have had the same dilemma.
