First off, most of you probably know all about how clutches work, so I guess this post ain't for you. For those like me who have a basic level of mechanical knowledge and are trying to learns as you go, read on.

I took my bike down to Tubbs today for a 15k service and to diagnose a suspected knackered clutch. It was indeed knackered and as Tubb's was explaining why I figured I kinda needed to educate myself a bit more.

So after a bit of searching, I found this clip on YouTube which actually kinda made a lot of things clear for me. After seeing this and doing a little more web-reading (this was also very useful... http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/600564-exactly-how-does-a-motorcycle-clutch-work/) I now understand better how motorcycle clutches work, what's inside them and when they fail, why.

I know it's probably very basic to most, but it's a start and helps me better understand my bike - hopefully it's useful to others too.

Every day's a school day.
