I had to do a similar 'mod' when the star fangled nut (any cyclists will understand) failed inside my early firebolt swingarm pivot shaft.....later ones had a proper thread machined inside. |

Never liked star fangled nuts and that was one of the main features of my choice of Cannondale bikes...sealed cartridge bearings for steering and 88 needle bearings for the smoothest suspension ![]() |

I had and still have a Fatty, obviously! Still in pretty well perfect nick almost 11 years after I last rode her and 18 years since I bought her. Beautiful bike, though only the frame and forks are original now. |
