Post subject:  How to ship an X1

I am shipping my X1 later this quarter out to the Canary Islands, , now it is all running sweet etc. Is there anything I should be doing before I ship it? It will be on a container for approximately 1 month. I know these bikes need running all the time, , but what about crating them up, is there a specific way of doing it? Any ideas anyone?

Why not ride it to Southern Spain and rent a boat from one of the guys importing Africans into Spain. They do Canary runs too.

Further to this a company is going to box it up and ship it for me. A mate asked 'what about flat spots on the tyres?'

Any idea how eliminate this on pirelli diablos , it will be on the boat/in customs for a 3-4 weeks.

Before I boxed my bike up to Canada, I.......

made sure the battery was fully charged

Covered the bike in ACF50 (made sure it was dripping)

Inflated the tyres to the max pressure for the tyre as per tyre wall

Once bike was here, I wiped it down, deflated tyres to correct pressures (they had only lost a couple psi in 2 1/2 months

Ran her up for 30 mins (off choke)

Since then, (April she got here) Ive just looked at her :!:

ACF50 is a good shout I think....

Would be a lovely trip admittedly, but for the fact of 15 tankfuls of fuel (maybe less) , eurotunnel, staying over in some places on the way down, a sore arse, and then get to cadiz and €500 to get to Santa Cruz on a ferry with hairy arsed lorry drivers, and that is just sleeping in a chair for 48 hours.

Or get some kind people to box it up, pamper it and unload at the other end. Approximately €500 all in
