I have read the workshop manual, looked at the parts manual, spoken to friends ... result - this simple job on any other bike seems to be a pain in the arse, you have to spread the frame and need at least 2 of you.

Anyone here done this many times and got it down pat? I would appreciate any advice you can give.

Thanks

Don't spread the frame.

Hello & welcome, don't be shy, you can tell us where in UK you are!

As Adam says, you need to be getting to know Maz :maz: , if you don't already. 8-)

lOl ......it is impossible to spread the frame.

Whereabouts are you located Mr.Bricks ?........would be really helpful if peeps included this in their profile, rather than just putting UK etc.

Thanks for all the comments.
The bike is in wiltshire, near marlborough.
Funnily enough when the belt went I got it recovered by the RAC and the driver has 2 buells [1 S1 m 1 later - you on here?]
My understanding was that harley came out with a tool to open up the frame - which was crap anyway - though I was assured the frame springs back.
Anyway -if I dont have to do that it sounds better already -

You're never far from help with UKBEG, but that puts you fairly close to Pash ......

I am no S1 belt expert (although I have changed one and it was a PITA)

If you look at the frame in that area for more than 2 seconds, you'll understand what Maz says.

You don't even need to take the wheel out on the X1 ;-) you don't even need to alter the axle
adjustment bolts, just slacken the axle right off enough to allow the plates that rest on the adjusters to drop clear out each side and push the wheel fully forward ;)
