1. Get a good paddock stand http://www.ukbeg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=115858#p115858 2. Read section 2.4 of the official Service Manual section 5 where it tells you to "Raise the wheel up until the rotor clears the caliper and rotate the fork leg counterclockwise allowing wheel clearance for removal". 3. Laugh and giggle for a couple of minutes before COMPLETELY IGNORING the Service Manual. 4. Remove the front caliper. 5. Remove axle whilst supporting wheel with wooden blocks 6. Remove wheel Note: If you think there is room to lift the wheel off the caliper without removing it you'll get half way before realising you can't do it without removing the chin spoiler and various other things. You'll now have the wheel stuck so you can't put it back. This means you'll start shouting/screaming in a manic, desperate fashion for someone to help hold the wheel whilst you remove the caliper. |

I just put full left lock on the bars and twist the fork leg a bit and the wheel comes out without taking the calliper off. |

Was dead easy and didn't need to remove the calliper or chin spoiler... or use a paddock stand... - Jack under forward jacking point of the exhaust thus raising the front wheel - bike now resting on rear wheel, sidestand and jack - (Uly) Undo bolts securing front mudguard to the fork bottoms (2 each side) - slide the mudguard up the speedo cable and clear of the brake calliper - Loosen pinch bolts at base of left-hand fork - Undo axel (clockwise to loosen) - remove axel wheel supporting wheel with your hand - gently lift the wheel and thus the brake disc up and clear of the calliper... with a little wiggle of the right-hand fork, you can now bring the wheel back down and forward and remove. Done. |

Jacking up the front wheel so that it just touches the floor makes pulling the axle easy - no need to support the wheel with your other hand! Putting the axle back is easy, too. Sounds a bit like the fastest four handed sport in the world, doesn't it? (Putting it back in after it slips out). |
