Hello to all,
I am from the UK and have been looking to buy a Buell for a number of years. I finally bought an 1125cr from a lovely fellow up North. I drove up with a van to pick it up and was very pleased to see the condition the bike was in. Just like new. I was told it has had all the electrical mod's done and it had a beautifully made exhaust that suited the bike.
Once home I decided to take the bike for a short blast, but it stopped running about a mile in with the engine light and the battery light showing on the dash. The previous owner told me that the bike had a flat/low battery and it probably needed a new one. The only thing I learned was that the bike is ridiculously loud and as a result rather unpleasant to ride.
I removed the exhaust silencer and slipped in a baffle that came with the exhaust. Popped in a new battery. I started the bike and it popped and farted a bit until warm and then ran beautifully. It is very quick. It is quite an experience riding a Buell for the first time and I loved it
But oh my! that exhaust is horrendous. I only did about 5 miles and my head was pounding all afternoon, even though I was wearing ear plugs. So If anyone know's where I can get a quieter exhaust please let me know.
Whilst working on the bike I was impressed by the build quality and the tech inherent in the design of these bikes for mass centralization. I look forward to riding the bike and maybe making a few mods but the exhaust is first on the list.
I look forward to asking lots of dumb questions.
