The other halfs bike sold on ebay and got picked up yesterday. So I now have some much needed space in the garage, and another step closer to having the Buell in residence :4roz:

The M2 is in stock trip at present, but won't stay that way for long. Will be shopping for a decent performance can and filter assembly so any recommendations would be welcome. Would it need re-jetting for this, and if so which is the best kit for it?

Rode an M2 and a M900 (lent by a friend) back to back once when I was first thinking of buying. The Buell sounded slower, but was actually going as quick if not quicker. ;)

When I jumped back on the Duck to ride home, I stalled it at the next 2 junctions such was the difference in torque! lOl

Oh yes, and I imediately noticed the chain noise after the luxury of the Cyclones belt! 8-)

Welcome - hopefully it's an orange frame and dark grey body parts, not black. That was a nice colour combo in 2002 on the M2's and the S3's. 8-)

It's the orange and satin black combination like this one

If the speedo needs to be changed too I may give the gearing swap a miss :(

I finally have the M2 here now after delays collecting it due to snow etc.. Had to be trailered back as it's currently on a SORN, and untaxed. Not quite as stock as I thought it was going from memory. It's was been owned by a mate for a few years, and he's looked after it serviced it regularly. It's done 12000 miles and already got a Scorpion can, mikuni carb and K&N filter kit fitted - bit of a result. I also found out it was originally Metallic grey & orange but had the bodywork re-painted black.

One minor fault I spotted today is one of the fork seals is leaking. Got a new set on the way to sort this before it's MOT. Also got to convert the gearchange to RHS, like I did on the Monster (I'm a left leg below knee amputee), and then I'll set to work tarting it up a bit. Anyway it's nice to be a Buell owner at last.

Some sensible mods which will save headaches in the future. :yup:
On the primary side upgrade the primary chain tensioner to the thicker one and the gear detent plate to the harder pointed star shape one.
Change the front engine mount from the inverted V shaped one to the much stronger ali billet one (availible from Maz)
On the timing side cut down the cam cover and re route the oil lines then they wont chaff and wear thru on the bottom of the engine. See how to section. At same time upgrade the oil pump drive gear.

This all involves a lot of spannering but its possible for even a numpty like me with the help of this club, and parts wise ain,t mega bucks and will build a hole load of reliability into bike.
An AST shock is also well worth the expense as is full US gearing.
All the best Rich

I've seen a couple fitted to Buells and I think it was Norm who bough an X1 a few years ago that had been converted by the previous owner for similar reasons.
