Hi All, Had a good read through the site you look like a nice bunch. I do ride but on a TL1000S its a keeper! I am after getting a Buell......"What else would I be on the site for!" I would like an XB12SCG but think it has gone out of my price range now. So I am looking at the 1125R would have liked the CR but they seem to go for more money...why? Should I need to know anything before I go in head first and come away with a pig? Is there much difference over the years 08 and on? I rather go in with my eyes wide open. Many thanks, Andy |

Hi Andy. The XB12scg and the 1125 models are completely different characters despite looking to have all the same cycle parts. The 1125 engines seem to rev on and on, whereas the 1200s run out of steam quite early. Totally different yet both great fun. I have a 2010 model year 1125CR bought at the demise of Buell in Nov 2009. Also own 2 tube frame Buells and a 990KTM. The 1125 engine is by far the best. Have just done a ~480mile round trip run up to East Kirkby at the weekend, a surprisingly competent distance bike, (if you have decent neck muscles) With a decent pipe (Albert/APH ) it howls rather than booms like the 1200s. I even had a car driver comment on how nice it sounded at a service station having overtaken him earlier. Later (post 2008) 1125s will need the charging system rotor modification. Mine was done at 10k miles and the clutch slave cylinder another know issue at 3k miles. Oberon do a upgrade for the clutch though I am still running the Buell one. The rotor mod is available from EBR or Twin Motorcycles in Holland. Both have been as good ever since currently at about 17k miles. All fuel in frame Buells seem to like regular wheel bearing changes and are appreciative of more owner attention than a Honda. Attention from the general public is a given. Good luck with your quest. |

Scg's seem to attract high prices, dave at Northampton v twin has one for sale at the moment, The 1125cr has always been more desirable than the r, probably because of the looks of the r, if you can live with them you'll have a great bike for not a lot of money, people have also put the firebolt front end on which was apparently the original idea anyway, get an 08 the only issuses are parasitic drain on the battery from dash (switch off with kill switch) and probably clutch weep, oberon slave cylinder sorts this, get an 09 make sure the stator and rotor have been upgraded. |

Thank you for your advice. The 1125R 08 is OK to go for then. the later ones need or should have alternator replacements. What is the rotor issue? I still have a pulling towards the SCG.....it just has the right mix for me, I like the simple lines of it. It does not look fussy, just purposeful. I will call NVT to see what they are going for......i'm a bit mixed up at the moment and just done want to settle. Do the XBs have any major issues? Maybe I need to save more cash! Thank you again, Andy |

Keep an eye one the water pump seals on early ones too. They can weep. |
