Post subject: | Swiss Buell-addict looking for internship in bike shop |
Hello to all and a happy new year to you! I’m joining the forum from Switzerland as an owner of a XB12Ss MY2009 that I own since 2018. Next to his bike I ride also a Triumph Tiger Sport MY2018 and a Kawasaki Z750S MY2007. I service and update my bikes on my own and love to work on them and ride bikes from my 18th birthday. The reason I’m joining the forum is of a particular nature. After having worked as a teacher for German and English languages two dozens of years, I can apply for a sabbatical leave and need a project to do that. I lived in Britain at the end of the last century for a year during my studies and I’d like to return to the UK for an extended period of time again. Instead of pursuing an academic project, I would like to work as an intern/apprentice in a motorcycle shop / engine rebuilder and by joining here I hope someone would have a tip where I might find a spot. I have serviced everything on my bikes from stators, forks, electrics, injectors, manifolds etc. but never touched the innards of the gearbox or the motor and have never come around to welding or machining an have no formal tuition as a mechanic. Thus there are a lot of skills I have yet to learn and my sabbatical would be a great opportunity to acquire them. So if you knew about a shop or dealership that would take on an intern for 2-3 months without any financial requirements starting next August 2025, please let me know. Preferably, I’d consider a place up north or Scotland, since I haven’t explored these northern regions in my time in Wolverhampton. I’d bring one of my bike, of course, as I did the last time. Thanks for reading up on me and maybe I’ll get some tips from you. Regards, Tom |
