Post subject:  Hello from Sussex

Well I took the plunge and sold my BMW to take advantage of the deals being done on Buells. Got myself a 59 plate Ulysses XT with 4,000 miles on it. Silly money at £5000.
I was undecided when I first looked at the bike but took a test ride and placed a deposit.
The deciding factor was meeting a guy at the dealers who had the X version Ulysses and used it on a regular basis and loved it. Deal done.
I love the view and the light responsive handling. The BMW steered like a cruise liner by comparison. Got the wife on the back for the first time and she preferred it to the BMW. Just as well!
Looking forward to putting some dry miles on it now as I only seem to have ridden it in the wet.
I'm so glad I didn't buy another Jap multi which I was considering, to the extent that I had test ridden the Kawasaki GTR. It was very efficient but so dull. Can't say that about the Uly.
:) :) :)

Hi there and welcome to UKBEG :)
From your location I'm guessing you bought it from Shaws?
Just picked up my XB12Ss from there a week ago, and loving it :D

Indeed I did get it from Shaws. I was impressed by their customer service and lack of pressure to buy.
I'm well impressed by the bikes engineering which I guess I shouldn't be surprised at.
It does feel short compared to every other bike I've owned (7 in the last 9 years, my wife is a saint) and my mate when he sat on it said he felt he was falling over the front.
My wife says it is more comfortable than the BMW I had and two up I didn't even notice she was on the back. In fact I had to check to make sure I hadn't left her by the roadside!
Glad that you are enjoying your machine too.

I'm waiting for my XT to be ready for collection to....its a '08 demo model with about 400km on it, black.

I'm having the comfort kit fitted hence the delay. Cant wait for it be be ready but the last couple of days here have been frosty :?

Has yours the latest re-flash where the fan only turns on when you start moving ? I'm not going for this at the moment.

Cheers,
Eric.

Yes it does have the latest re-flash and the ride appears less hot. I am going to purchase the comfort kit too.

Hi Chris,
I'm from Ireland so dont understand the "55 plate" stuff...what year is that ?

33k is good mileage....any words of wisedon for us newbies ?

Did you do any of the mods like breathers, belt tensioner, gearbox shaft oiler etc ?

Are you still running a standard ECM ?

Cheers,
Eric.
