Day 7 and landed in Dumfries.
I left them at Carlisle after battling over Shap in rain and 30 mph headwinds :(
Hopefully the rest of their trip will be easier.............. it has given me an itch for next year :)

Thank you sooooooo very much for taking the front into that bloody wind for the best part of 50 miles mate!!!

A couple of photos of us going up Shap Summit,
First one, Conquistador at the front with me just behind at the very top (a damn site steeper than it looks here!!!), second one is the four of us at the top (it was 4*C at the top!)...

It was a hard day, a VERY hard day!

Today however was MUCH better - glorious sunshine for the whole 89 miles between Dumfries and Dumbarton, and a very light wind..!!..

Total now cycled is 612 miles!!!

Many congratulations Mark, you must be over the moon. Just out of interest what do you estimate your total milage, including training.

The ride was 894 miles.
I trained shitloads, I really needed to - I hadn't ridden a road bike before March this year.
I would guess at between 1500 and 2000 miles training. I rode very nearly every single day from Jan 2nd until May 11th, with at least 10 miles minimum (and usually more) every weekday, and much bigger Sat/Sun rides (minimum 50 mile after about mid March, up to my biggest which was 101 miles).
This thing REALLY has taken my life over this year.

Was it worth it?

F*CK YEAH..!!..
