EBR press release:
EBR Europe head office in Alkmaar officially opened
• European organization of EBR Motorcycles taking shape
Alkmaar, January 2014 – Erik Buell Racing (EBR), the American manufacturer of motorcycles using advanced American technology and the best possible parts and components, has officially opened their European head office in Akmaar, The Netherlands. EBR will promote, market and distribute EBR motorcycles from this European base. Operating out of Alkmaar, EBR Europe will also participate in the Superbike World Championship this year with two riders wearing EBR colors.
In October EBR launched the 1190RX in Orlando, and immediately afterward EBR Europe, under the leadership of Edwin Belonje, started setting up the European distribution network. The new street-legal high-performance sportbike is a direct descendant of the EBR RS Super Bike.
EBR Europe head office in Akmaar The European premises have a total area of 450 m2. Along with several offices, the building has a shop, a storeroom and training rooms. “Now we can make real progress with setting up our dealer network in Europe,” commented Edwin Belonje, Managing Director of EBR Europe. “We started this late last year, and we have visited several prospective dealers in the Netherlands, England, Belgium and Germany. We met with a warm reception because EBR is poised to capture a distinctive position in the market. We expect to be able to deliver the first regular production motorcycles in March.”
EBR 1190RX The latest American motorcycle weighs just 190 kg, and its 1190-cc V-twin engine delivers an impressive 185 HP and 138 Nm of torque. The broad torque band of the 1190RX gives riders the assurance that more than enough pulling power is available in every gear, and the 21 traction control settings allow it be transfered to the road under all conditions. With its revolutionary engine design and EBR’s race-inspired handling features combined with attractive styling and scientifically derived aerodynamics, the 1190RX yields nothing to its competitors. The multi-function digital instrument cluster enables the rider to adjust performance parameters such as traction control, and it provides access to numerous other functions including track performance data, service intervals and system diagnostics.
EBR in Superbike competition EBR’s determination to be present on all fronts is also shown by the announcement of their participation in the Superbike World Championship. This is hardly surprising considering that EBR won the American AMA championship last year and in 2012 with Geoff May and the 1190RS. EBR will participate in the full Superbike series in 2014 with two bikes and riders Geoff May and Aaron Yates. The European head office will provide promotional support for the EBR team for the races in Spain, the Netherlands, Italy and England. Geoff May: “For me it’s fantastic to be part of the EBR team, and I’m looking forward to participating in SBK 2014 with this wonderful machine. I have a lot of confidence in it.”
“With the official opening of the head office, the start of production in the US, the arrival of the first motorcycles in Europe in the next two months and EBR’s announced participation in the Superbike World Championship, EBR is getting off to a flying start,” concluded Belonje.
