Does anyone know what the facilities are like at Silverstone, camping-wise? Has anyone camped at Silverstone before? I am wondering if we have to take beverages and provide our own entertainment for the evenings...... Any advice, suggestions, recommendations etc. welcome.

Hi Jill - good question, I'll check for you tomorrow.

-----------------------------------------------------

Silverstone have sent me final details for the UKBEG BSB weekend. I've copied these details and posted them below*.

As of Thursday (17th) last week UKBEG members had booked 26 adult tickets. Everyone should have received them by now.

Unfortunately Silverstone forgot to send out 'Centre Passes' with our tickets. The details below explain how these 'Centre Passes' work - you will need one to access the 'Bike Club' area.

Note: you can still access the circuit and camping with your normal tickets.

Due to this 'hiccup' they have sent me 26 Centre Passes to distribute to members, which will have to be done at the weekend.

Would you please let me know which day and approximately what time you intend to arrive so I can arrange to give you your Centre Pass. I will PM you our mobile number.

We intend to be there for early Friday evening.

UKBEG members who have pre-booked as of 17-09-09:
Jessop 2
Walker 2
Schmitz 2
Houston 1
Bannister 2
Horwood 3
Lippard 1
Fitzmaurace 2
Bulbeck 2
Convent (Jim) 2
Convent (James) 1
Horne 2
Brown 2
Goldstone 2

* Hello Bike Club Event Organisers

Firstly many thanks to all bike clubs who have taken up this inaugural offer to have a presence at Silverstone British Superbikes round eleven 25-26-27 Sept.

I'm very pleased to tell you that despite the rather short notice we gave you there are over 100 bikes booked in to the exclusive bike clubs display area, a great start to what we intend will be a regular feature at Silverstone's major bike race meetings in the future.

The area allocated to bike clubs is known as 'Upper APM' it is all tarmac. The race viewing will be superb from this area located overlooking 'Priory' so you can see the riders cranked over right coming towards you out of 'Bridge', then cranking hard over left going away from you into 'Priory', 'Brooklands' and the 'Luffield' complex.

Access to the bike clubs area is via the main circuit entrance gate, so follow signs on the Dadford Road for 'Centre Passes'. After entering the main inner circuit gate continue straight on over the bridge, then take the first turning left off the roundabout and follow the road up towards the older National straight bridge, the 'Upper APM' is on your left just before the bridge.

Those of you whose members are camping on site will be able to move your bikes within the circuit confines between the club display area and the campsite, this will be restricted to before racing commences and after it ends each day.

And now for the 'hiccup!'

Please accept our apologies for the oversight in us not sending out the Centre Passes for the bikes with your tickets, you will by now have received a supply of centre passes for your pre-booked members as of Thursday last week. i.e. Club Aprilia UK = 22, Benelli OC = 23, UKBEG = 26, Honda OC GB = 22.

There will be additional club members booking their tickets up to and including tomorrow Tuesday 22nd September, they should be sent Centre Passes with their tickets.

We will be there during the day Friday, but we will only need to access the campsite so it shouldn't be a problem - if we need centre passes then we will sort it out when we get there !

On another note, my wife has decided that she wants her creature comforts so will be driving there. We will be bringing a small barbecue as that's how we usually do our cooking - should anybody else need to use it then it won't be a problem - we will bring plenty of charcoal ...

So how many are we expecting Friday ?

Jill - I hope this reply from Silverstone answers all your questions:

Hello Chris

The campsite has toilet/shower facilities and potable water supply. There are food and drink outlets around the Trade Mall area that will remain open in the evenings and there will be evening entertainment in the Copse 'E' zone.

Nigel - thanks for posting the BSB timetable.

Regarding the 'Centre Passes' - this is turning out to be a real pain in the bum :headbang:...

To simplify the process our mobile number is 0792 626 5582. When you arrive at Silverstone phone us (or leave a text message) and we'll endeavour to get a Centre Pass to you ASAP. We apologise in advance if you have to wait to gain access to the 'Bike Club' area - I'll get to you as fast as my little legs will carry me :D....

Apologies Chris
I'm not going to be able to make this. I noted that the uptake on the tickets was good from the UKBEG so you surpassed the requirement for 15 tickets. Looks like it will be a cracking weekend and something that maybe they will do again.
Have a good one.
