Hope Guy Martin brings a bigger van with him this year, to carry home all those trophies.... :yup:

Sadly we won't be there, we're off to Cookstown.

Yes, he is well overdue a win.

He broke down in practice one year where I marshal & I had to put a small fire out for him.

Once he'd got over his disappointment & frustration he was soon his natural, down to earth, likeable self.

Dates don't clash, why not do both?

Indeed I am. Practice week I'm there with the family staying in a farm cottage north or Ramsey. Race week I'll be camping at the football club in Douglas.

I divide my few available holiday dates between bike racing, bike touring & holidays, matey. I'm fully committed for holidays this year, already crammed in a long weekend in Cairo, Diggertours to Cookstown, a full 4x4 tour of Iceland and a week in Aragon for the MotoGP.... lOl

The experience, and atmosphere at the TT is, without doubt unique, and a must do for any true road racing fan.

Mrs Dusty and I have enjoyed the spectacle for a number of years, several of which involved marshalling. We were last there for the 2007 celebrations. The lack of finances and the loss of a good friend on the Mountain Circuit have tempered our enthusiasm over the intervening years.

But as those of you who know, it is like a drug.

Whilst we are considering a trip again this year, the following are stacked against it:

1) The disproportionate costs involved
2) The shit attitude by The Steam Packet
3) The brilliant FREE online commentary, coupled with the live dashboard, means that (being self employed) we can follow the races from our office whilst still earning.
4) The excellent ITV4 coverage.

:sad1:

Not a surprise at all. Horrific injury.

I just hope that folks don't devalue Guy's wins this year with the "Hutchy would have won if he had been there" comments .....

He's got to win first. It's not like he's the only rider there and just has to finish to win. The likes of Michael Dunlop aren't saying it's your turn to win Guy so i'm going to let you beat me. Also baring in mind, guy broke his back in his last ride at the TT. I really hope Guy does get a win this year, but it will be a massive achievement if he does.
