Excellent news!

The main part of this road is open to the public at most times and is brilliant. On a weekend, when the lunatics are blasting between the café in Llandovery and Abergavenny I often turn off at Sennybridge and make my way over the ranges, and I will be the only one up there…………besides the sheep. ;)

Having competed in a number of hill climbs there with Port Talbot Motorcycle Club I can vouch for the superb condition that the road surfaces are in, paid for by our taxes through the MOD admittedly. The only fly in the ointment will be weather (low cloud and fog) and despite what Steve Plater says, straying sheep often bring a stop to proceedings.

Fingers crossed for a great weekend.

Having spoken to a local Road Racing star, there's a lot going on behind the scenes here. Many riders are saying that the course is unsuitable for big bikes, and that overtaking will be dangerous. No one knows how qualifying will take place as they're being set off in pairs, and faster riders may get held up. The plan for this Time Trial type even, will have the fast boys coming around to the line, as the slower ones at the back of the grid are still starting  Many of the top boys won't be attending since they have a big issue with one of the organisers who wrote some very insulting and personal comments about one racer on FB a couple of years ago. The promoters are still saying that John McGuiness will be riding ( they even told me this at the NEC bike show) when he has categorically stated to the local Road Racer, that he will be at the Llangollen Bike Fest being held on the same weekend and he's furious about his name being used like this (I've told my mate to bring him over to D11 for a hog roast on Sat evening😂) A lot of other racers will be busy loading their vans for the Ulster held the following week( and rebuilding their bikes after Oliver's Mount the previous weekend). I wish them well, but my initial excitement is a bit less now.

That's dampened my enthusiasm now too, sounds like the planning needed a bit more work

That is an unfair comment Kev, and unworthy of you. The Circuit Of Wales was a commercially non viable pipe dream. The infrastructure for the Epynt event is in place.

As for Lord Pant's view, I am confused. On the one hand, Paul Owen is a highly respected racer and his views and concerns are not to be taken lightly. On the other hand, Phil Morris Racing are heavily involved in the promotion of this new venture, and I assume would not be if there was any possibility of it being a flop. :?

Looks like the ACU are refusing to sanction the event now and the event may now be cancelled. Paul was over at my place this morning and showed me a load of texts from an IOM record holder, who's a very good pal of his, which put all this into perspective. In fact, JM was made a Director of the event without his consent and had to repeat that he wanted nothing to do with it. A great shame that the organisers, one of them being described as a 'complete dick' by a very successful IOM racer, couldn't bring a fantastic opportunity like this to Wales.

There's an official press release this morning on the Welsh RR Facebook page. It flatly blames the Welsh govt. I'm sure there's some truth in it but from what I've been told, it may not be the full story .......and I don't think it was a shortage of Grid Girls either lOl
