I lived in Purley until 1990 and New Addington was always a place to avoid...you know the urban myth... you didn't want to be caught at red lights or you'd lose your wheels...
Interesting (and equally depressing) to hear that despite doubtless '000,000s of 'regeneration funding', 20 years later it has not escaped its reputation.
Used to have to pass through it to get to Biggin Hill and my parents always used the opportunity to tell me that's where I'd be living if I didn't study harder!
...I now live within smelling range of Portsmouth... :rotfl:

I spent 5 years in Portsmouth. And now live in Shirley so new addington is a bit too close for me.
