UKBEG members may be interested in a series of informal meetings at the Mablethorpe Sand Races over the winter period.

Location and event details: here

If you've never been to the sand races before you won't be disappointed - there's usually a good selection of machinery and engine configurations being thrashed around the beach.

It doesn't cost anything to watch the racing and the seafood is simply delicious :P..

Having assessed the damage to the race bike last night, it's not going to be as costly as I feared, I might be able to get out to a couple of these outings.....

Aahhh, Maybo! That brings back memories.
I used to own one of the cafe's in the main street. Number 60 IIRC. Had a big wide front door, so all the Mum's could get the pushchairs in ;)
The sand races are great! I'm surprised they still alow them in these H&S PC days!

Good Fish & Chips in Sutton on Sea :yup:

I'm not. I'm from Tamworth. Well, a little village on the outskirts. (Polesworth)

But my parents moved that way when I was in my early 20's. Theddlethorpe St. Helen, by the oil terminal.

I used to be up that way every other weekend.
My folks are gone now, but I still visit once in a blue moon, and have a pint in the Kings Head.
I had the cafe up untill a few years ago.

I had a GSXR 750 then, one of the first batch of 500 in the U.K. (85 or 86 I think it was)
What a blast! over the wolds! I could do Theddlethorpe to Tamworth in an hour and a half when they put the Newark by-pass in :) No speed cameras in those days! 8-)
I used to wait an hour before I rang Mum to tell her I'd just got back O.K. she would say "Blimey you must have been going very fast!" If only she'd known lOl

Anyway, I remember the sand races well. And the fish & Chips 8-)

Looking at taking a ride down there this Sunday (16th).
Where's the best place for parking up?

Just head straight through the town centre towards the beach, you'll come straight into the bike park. Virtually on the beach, gentle well-surfaced sloping park. If it's full, turn left (north, parallel to the beach), then turn right immediately after the public toilets - plenty of space there too.

Have a good day, I won't get a spare day now until Jan. :sad1:

Derek - the forecast looks pretty good for Sunday, if we can rearrange our plans for the weekend we're hoping to go to Mablethorpe. We'll post on Saturday evening if we're definitely going :yup:....

Not made any plans yet for the weekend but might pop along myself ;) either on Muffin or possibly in the car with Harrys KX85 on the back with a for sale sign :D

Weather looking quite good for tomorrow so dry and bright but chilly 8-) looks like i'll be on muffin but possibly a slow ride as Harry could posssibly be joining me on his TZR50 8-) so like the others said go straight up high street and at the end park on the sloping concrete area opposite but don't block the beach access as the ambulance uses that ;)
