UKBEG members may be interested in this event which takes place on Thursday 16th May @ The Dambusters Inn, Scampton Village, Lincolnshire.

The Dambusters Inn - web site http://www.dambustersinn.co.uk

The event helps to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Dambusters raid and includes, weather permitting, an Avro Lancaster and Spitfire flypast.

We're going to try and leave work early enough to get to Scampton for no later than 6.30pm.

Brief event details:
On the morning of Thursday, 16th May 2013, between 07:00 hrs and 09:00 hrs listeners to BBC RADIO LINCOLNSHIRE will be able to keep tabs on these events at the Dambusters Inn, where an Outside Broadcast Unit will be in attendance to bring listeners a sense of the excitement and anticipation at the prospect of the planned flypast over Scampton Village, during Thursday evening, of aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

It is hoped that the scheduled visit of Lancaster PA 474 on Thursday evening will be further enhanced when — it is hoped — it will be accompanied by two Tornado GR4 aircraft from RAF 617 Squadron, along with two Spitfires from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The Flypast is scheduled to be carried out at some time during 19:00 hrs and 20:00 hrs on Thursday, 16th May.

The Hog Roast will be available from 19:00 hrs on Thursday, 16th May.

I would imagine those that imbibe in the beer festival starting at 12.00 hrs will have a slightly different view of the flypast 7 hours later :P

If you're interested in the Dambusters raid and classic aircraft etc. (and who isn't :P) there's a live program on Thursday from RAF Scampton on BBC2 @ 7.00pm - details here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01sjtzt

I don't think the BBC are covering the beer festival and hog roast at the Dambusters Inn :D .....

Earlier on Thursday there's also a flypast planned for Derwent Water: the aircraft will pass overhead the reservoir between 1300 and 1315 (local time) – 3 passes by the RAF BBMF and 2 by the GR4's of 617 Sqn.

We had a great 200 mile ride today to attend the Dambusters Service of Remembrance which was held in Woodhall Spa - a very moving ceremony which ended with the BBMF Lancaster flypast and two 617 Squadron Tornados flying low over the town.

It wasn't easy to take pictures at the event because of the crowds but here's a few...
