That view was the principle defence of the Lanc, not for his four 303's that couldn't match the 20mm or 30mm canons, but because when the rear gunner saw a 110 night fighter racing up from below, they could scream "corkscrew left" down the intercom! If he didn't see it, the next and last thing they'd know was when a blast of Schräge Musik tore through from below! |
