I just discovered this place by accident, located in the Derbyshire Dales next to Matlock. How can I explain it? Cheddar Gorge meets a North Devon coastal village by the seaside, calls in Blackpool for a bit of 3 way action, has a love child and calls it Matlock bath. Lots of chip shops, amusements, cafes, pubs, wonderful old buildings, motorcycle clothing shops, a river, big hills all around, cable cars (yes cable cars), illuminated displays in September oh and it has the biggest gathering of motorbikes in the Midlands. Sundays the biggest but bikes meet there all week. Yesterday it was swarming with bikes, some good biking road to and not a speed camera insight, unless you include the crafty one heading back at the bottom of the A34 today Will have to see if postie delivers anything over the next few days . . . Anyway anyone going through the Matlock / Derby Dales area plan this one into your route. |

That's the local bike haunt around here. As the biking lads i hang round with say 'all roads lead to matlock' There are a dozen different routes we can take that all exploit the better handling bikes. nick (sillyb) and another buell owner who's name escapes me (Black, blue, polished, highly modified S3. Was at em's day last sunday) are frequent visitors as am i. You want to see it on a warm dry sunday or bank holiday monday. They have to park on the river side as well. I've seen near 400 bikes there |

It's Fun City Not only is it a biker haunt (and quite well Policed - there's a vid clip somewhere of Squiz getting chased on his S1 by a Police bike on the A6 ) It's got some excellent Limestone climbing there (High Tor), Creesbrookdale, Chee Dale etc, and some of the best 'Sporting' Caves in the UK. Buxton is silimlar and worth a visit too |

I'm off on holiday to Buxton in a month or so. I've been reading about the Cat and Fiddle run for years, I can't wait. |
