I haven't been to his new place, but Steve's open days when he was near Winchester were always good. Pop in or meet up if you're in the area or so inclined :yup:

Steve Hilary is a very clever guy. :yup: He lived near me when we were teens. I think even then he had stuck a Honda 400 4 cylinder engine in a 250 trail bike.
He had great success building and racing Ducatis as Dr Desmo before setting up MotoRapido the Ducati main dealer and superbike race team based in Winchester.
Packed all that corporate stuff up to set up RedMax and concentrate on his love of Flat Track racing and Americana culture.

Tony, you've tickled Jane's (and Barney's :4roz:) fancy with this suggestion so we're coming down to Devon for the weekend.

Don't know if it fits in with your plans but we'll be at Red Max for 10.00am on Sunday.

Excellent, that's me decided then. It'll be Sunday for me. I'm not sure if this is anywhere near where you'd be passing but it's an interesting pub for lunch etc. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractio ... gland.html

Great ride down today, 312 miles via the 'scenic' route in mostly sunny conditions. We're really looking forwards to tomorrows event.

Barney being debugged.....

Superb summer weekend, 609 miles in total on all sorts of roads plus a scenic overload. We've fallen in love with Devon, a bit crowded at this time of year understandably, but very nice nonetheless.

Great to meet up this morning with Mick, Daniel, Tony and, briefly, Edd. Red Max have a very impressive set-up and their customised motorcycles are outstanding. Their workshops are well worth a visit if you're in the area. We'd like to thank Tony for suggesting this event, it was well worth combining it with a weekend away.

Jane's 2006 Guzzi 750, 'Barney' has now clocked up 116,731 miles :worthy: ....

Good to see all again. As I left there were a lot more punters arriving including a bit further down the road a nice red and gold Firebolt 2up.
I didn't take many photos but was struck by the work in the Ducati superlight. The wheels were lovely.
Glad you got back up North safe, My journey back along the South coast was blighted by the national caravan club and camper van annual infestation.

Well worth the trip if only for the local scenery. I was later than planned, then lost 20 minutes looking for fuel in Honiton. NB The only station for miles seems to be Tesco on an obscure estate east of town. The refill tanker was already there and must have to call every other day! lOl

Met Chris and Jane as they were leaving Dunkerswell so flagged them down for a brief hello. Sorry l missed you Tony so maybe next time. ;)

Red Max is an interesting place and clearly an enthusiasts den with some great bikes on show. Let others pictures here tell the tale. Met Chris the custom painter/pin stripe artist and his wife Helen from near Glastonbury, who were set up there demonstrating his skills and prolific collection of works. ;)

Amazingly, as l rode out of the little trading estate l noticed a yard full of old Citroens. And who was there but my old GS Club colleague and sometimes mechanic Anthony who l hadn't seen in 20 years. So a chance to catch up exchange numbers and possibly sell him some more of my Citroen spares......or maybe buy another GS? lOl

Steve Hilary explained that there's £35,000 in that Ducati Superlight. The frame is titanium from the USA and I'm sure he said the wheels are £3,000 each. All eye-watering stuff  ....

They take on all sorts of commissions, from a few £100 to the megabucks specials. Their regular service and tuning work on Ducatis is also a big part of their business.
