Hi Folks, Wondered if anyone would be interested in coming up to Derbyshire in April, probably the weekends of the 7th, 14th or 21st. Simply because there's nothing else on the UKBEG calendar for those dates. Meet at Matlock Bath, 10-30 to 11.00 Am for coffee etc. Leave Matlock Bath at 11.00 Am, then a ride to Mam Tor. En route' we can ride through Matlock Rowsely The Chatsworth House estate; (Great View of Chatsworth House) Grindleford, Hathersage, The Hope Valley, (runs alongside the Ladybower & Derwent valley & may be an alternative route) Castleton (Blue John Mines if anyone wants to & multiple Cafe's) Great Stopping point. Whinnets Pass to Mam Tor peak, Edale (Cafe) (start of the Pennine way very winding route & proper farming country) (Maybe not) Anyone feeling energetic can walk to the very top of Mam Tor for a 360 view of the Peak district (ten minutes walk at most but up very, very steep steps), great for panoramic pics though. If that's not your bag then we can ride over Mam Tor to a nice little Cafe (Full english, Cream teas etc) in Edale. The route could also vary to take in the Derwent Dams (Dambusters Trained there) very scenic. Check out Google maps & get back to me if you're interested with date & visit preferences & I'll get a more solid plan together. Bear in mind, it will be either the Hope valley or Derwent valley, not both as we have to turn off one to get onto the other. The out ride should be around 1 hour 30 mins to 2 hours depending on stops although mileage is a mere 35 miles or so. Ride back will be similar although will take in Bakewell (Hub of the Peaks) & Winster (Pretty). Should be back at Matlock Bath for 3.30pm depending on how long we stop for. If it's a straight forward spirited ride your after, it will take 1 hour max, cafe stop & back. Let me know if you're interested ASAP. I'll be doing it myself anyway, so not pressure ok. All the best Paul. |

Well the 7th would work best for me and don't forget the 21st is Easter Sunday. The start point is more than 100 miles from me so can't guarantee to make it but, if the weather is good, it looks like a great day out. DaveH is a bit closer Steve |

I'll be up for that if it's dry I ride those roads a lot when I'm out on the bike anyway. Even done most of that route on the push bike. |

Hi Dave, Yeah me too, never get fed up with any of it, last pushbike ride about 20 years ago though. Is the 7th ok for you also? If it's wet that week, we can stall it to the 14th If there's nothing else on? I forgot about Easter being on the 21st. Any preference on the route? All the best Paul |

By the way there are a couple of garages for fuel en route, Big Sainsbury's one as we ride out of Matlock & one twenty miles in. Choice of cafe's both do good full english for £7.00ish & lots of other stuff also. Once I get an idea of people coming I'll reserve a table or two in either or both, there's tons to see. Both cafe's are the ones I used to frequent with my FIL when he was able so both know me well enough. All the best folks, be nice to see anyone there. Weekend 7th April with a cover of the 14th if it's wet. |
