UKBEG Emma Radford Buell & European V-twin Festival - Saturday 17th July.

Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre
East Kirkby, near Spilsby
Lincolnshire
PE23 4DE
Location details: here

Google route planner to the event

This will be our 7th event at this location dedicated to the memory of one of our members, Emma Jane Radford, who passed away 22-04-04, aged just 26. We'll also be raising money for the Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis unit which looked after Emma. Last year this event raised over £1000 :P...

In addition to approx. 100 Buells, there'll be Italian bikes from Aprilia, Cagiva, Ducati, Morini and Moto Guzzi. British bikes will include Brough Superior, Hesketh and Vincent.

The event will include a Lancaster bomber taxi-run. If you like Rolls Royce V12 Merlin engines at full chat and red-blooded V-twin motorcycles, you'll really appreciate this event!

Edit 04-06-10:
Confirmed timetable:

10.30 am Start time
1.00 pm Avro Lancaster bomber taxi-run
3.00 pm Avro Lancaster bomber taxi-run
3.45 pm RAF Spitfire flypast

Various photo-calls for bikes in front of the Lancaster will take place as and when time allows, but our Buell line-up usually takes place after the second taxi-run.

The admission charge is £6.00 per person – but girls on bikes get in free.

Note: if you're arriving in a group of two or more bikes would you please collect your entrance money together and hand it to a nominated person within your group before you arrive. This would help to speed up your entrance to the event and help us on the gate. Thank you!

The Aviation Centre has full catering facilities.

FYI - we've booked a room for Friday and Saturday night (16th & 17th July) at the Red Lion, Revesby, which is just 2.4 miles from East Kirkby.
Location details: here
They charge £30 per person B&B, in clean, recently refurbished rooms. It's also quiet and extremely motorcycle friendly. The Red Lion is located outside the village of Revesby, in the beautiful countryside that surrounds East Kirkby.

An alternative is the Bull Hotel in Horncastle, which is 8 miles from East Kirkby. Quite a few of us stayed at the Bull for last years event. The Bull has a larger selection of rooms and charges approx. £40 per person B&B in a twin/double room or approx. £45 per person B&B in a single room.

Thanks, Steve, since the demise :( of the Buell Motorcycle Company it's important that the UK's most passionate Buell dealer continues to support Em's Day, which is the largest gathering of Buell motorcycles in the UK.

Post subject:  Re: UKBEG Main Event - Emma Radford Buell Festival, 17th July.

At the start of this year I wrote to the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) asking if they had any of their aircraft in the East Kirkby area on the 17th July. I didn't get a reply so I thought that they hadn't anything available.

This week out of the blue a large envelope arrived with lots of offical forms and the offer of an RAF Spitfire flypast :P....

We have to call at the Aviation Centre on Saturday morning, en-route to London for Sunday's UKBEG event, to fill in the paperwork etc. So, all things being equal, we will have a Spitfire flying over East Kirkby on Em's Day.
