Oh yeah! forgot to mention; airbox cracked around mountings (possibly due to tank bag retainers) replaced under warranty, and fan played up (replaced myself) .

Headbearings, FS tensioner bearing and swingarm bearings by Maz. Wheel bearings by me (but this is just regular maintenance surely  )

I think the secret of XB longevity is to ride them far and often. Not that they will live any longer than one sitting in the garage, but at least you will have the postcards/photo's to say you've been somewhere! :D

08 model XB12X - Bought November 2007 - 18,500 miles

Faults:
One set of front wheel bearings
Rusty standard muffler - now on its third

Brilliant all-rounder
Long travel suspension
Long distance comfort
Engine
Fuel injection

Cons:
Service costs
Poor quality standard fasteners

06 Uly, 6k miles

Faults
1) Fan replaced under warantee
2) Muffler gone nice and rusty - tough
3) No doubt the wheel bearings are knackered but I can't tell yet (actually, the front might be OK as it's not on the ground that much) :o
4) Fasteners are corroding.
5) 1 rear tyre replaced, see (3)

Love it to bits

07 12R 9k miles

2 discs (both giving pulsation - I did actually make one a lot better by cleaning but it was already earmarked for replacement)
Gearbox output shaft seal (weeping)
Rear sprocket (paint failling off)
Fork leg bottoms (paint falling off)
Front isolator (paint falling off)
Rear disc (identified as warped - I think it was bent by Protyre when fitting a new rear tyre)
Head races (cos I didn't want to grind to a halt at 10000 miles - tracks better on long sweeping bends now)
Tensioner wheel bearings
A few tyres (but on different wheels)
Wheel bearings (but on different wheels)
Oil and filters etc.

I'm such an XB whore, this is going to be a bit random:

2006 XB12SS - I owned it for a year, 7,500 miles. Not a single fault.
2007 XB12X - owned for six months, 15,000 miles, including lots on dirt and gravel. Not a single fault.
2008 XB12STT - owned for a year, 7,500 miles - a fair few on the track. Not a single fault.
2009 XB12X - And I STILL actually own this one after four whole weeks. 250 miles. And no faults. 8-)

30,000 faultless miles. XB Buells have been good to me.

Depreciation is probably my only gripe. But then some might say my purchasing and ownership strategy is a touch sub-optimal ;)

Tax disc and half the holder bracket vibrated off about 6 weeks ago. Today the number plate and half the cheapo number plate bracket joined it

This could get expensive!
