Starter can only pass oil either via the mounting gasket......did you fit the later laminated steel version ? or via its front double sealed (2RS) bearing.

Whereabouts are you located ?

Cheers maz i bought a James Gasket kit off you northern ireland (s1 lightning ni).

Yep the later steel style gasket is fitted. I think the leak is coming through that bearing. From memory that bearing was not sealed just a metal plate on the mounting side of it and on the outer race a oring (nothing to seal the inner race) . think the starter came from ebay in america

I think i need to fit and 2RS bearing or at least try that. cheers
