Are 03/04 XB upper outer fork tubes usable in combination with 2000 X1 lower inner tubes and internals?

I know that 04 XB upper tubes have the same diameter were the headstock clamps bolt on.
The XB upper tubes are only one centimeter shorter
X1 47.5 cm
XB 46.5 cm
The inside I don't know yet ,but lower legs are 41 mm from both forks
And seals are also the same part number

The reason for asking this is because the upper outer fork tubes on my X1 are corroded to far for cleaning up.
XB upper outer tubes are still plenty available ,so I hoped that it's possible to replace the X1 tubes with the XB tubes and re-use the X1 inside parts with lower sections.

Hopefully Pash and or Maz know and can give inside of this!?
