My XB is just coming up to it's 15000 mile service and I thought I'd replace the wheel bearings anyway regardless of condition.

Fronts had some roughness so were worth doing. This is the second set.

Rear were fine as far as I can tell. I applied as much axial load as I could and rotated them but could not detect any roughness. In fact they still had that 'just greased' feel to them.

I'm not moaning about replacing them, it's no big deal. I was just wondering if anyone else was getting similar mileage from rear bearings. BTW I fitted a freespirts tensioner at about 7k.

Cheers

Bob

Hi Bob

My 2003 xb9 still has it's original rear orange sealed bearings and up to a few weeks ago when I changed the rear tyre they were smooth to rotate and had no noticable slackness, it's done 26,000 miles.
I have always removed the wheel when a tyre was needed and torqued the shaft when refitting as per the manual recommendations.
Can't say the same for the front ones though, it's on it's 3rd set.
Cheers
Martin
