Ask if they'll come pick it up in their van.
Dundee's a little far but they do deliveries all over so if they're going past they might come get it. They're pretty good with that kind of stuff.

Cheers for the tip 'yourguitarhero', but have gone and arranged a man wi a van for Saturday - didn't want to have bike sitting for ages waiting on the dealer passing the house - wanting to get out on the bike asap.

A wee update ....Got bike into dealers at wknd - turns out it had previously been in for replacement rear bearings and also exhaust strap/new header pipes as well !!
The last two parts were replaced because the front exhaust strap broke - this was last October .....300 miles ago ! :o
I'm now not very reassured the new parts being fitted will be any better than what's just failed AGAIN -
....can anyone recommend a stronger/more durable/robust can strap for the front of the exhaust - really not sure how long the new one will last now.
Also found out the bike only has a one year warranty as it was started in 2009, even tho' bike wasn't registered until 2010 - great ! :headbang:

Hmmmm........that doesn't sound right, I thought the warranty started ticking on the date of 1st registration :?

Doesn't sound right at all ;-)
Also I'd say the way the exhaust has been fitted is the real problem.......everything needs to be relaxed where it is tightened up so that there is no strain on any mountings ......... and also the straps do not like being overtightened as has been pointed out a few times on here.

FWIW - I was told that the dealer had kicked-off the warranty during 2009 (prob hoping to sell it then), then when it was finally sold a year had passed - I think it stinks as well, but I never bought the bike new...
Would be interested to know if I can claim from 1st reg date though.
I also think the straps were not fitted right - as stated - prob too tight !
Going to look into after-market straps as well - just in case !
Many thanks for all your advice & help - keep it up - great help guys :worthy:

I think I remember seeing this bike for sale... And I think it was mentioned on the site...

Has the muffler been dinged? I think there used to be someone on here with an XB with a dinged muffler and it broke header studs. IIRC the bolt would not fit through the front mount to the engine.

The muffler and pipes were replaced last October so don't know if they were replaced due to being dinged - dealer also said there was a broken stud in the head that had to come out.
Sounds very similar to my bike - if this is the case, what should I do to stop this from reoccurring ?

Maz I assume you meant me. When I bought my "new" (as in zero miles unregistered)1125R last march (2010) I was told warranty was definitely 2 years from date of sale to me ie 1st registration . Mine is a 2008 build so I hope that they haven't moved the goalposts on me. Only claim so far was failed rear LED indicator which was no problem and dealer came through quickly.

Starts on date of SWR (Sales Warranty Registration) and that can be at any time, generally to fit in with hitting targets, qualifying for bonuses etc. This is the measure that H-D use to monitor sales and can create no end of problems. A decent dealer will explain the warranty situation at time of purchase but that won't help a second owner. Natural assumption is that it relates to date of registration with DVLA so worth checking with your dealer if you're not sure.

I've got a problem with a sheared header stud on my XB.
At some point the bolt that holds the front exhaust mount to the rest of the bike had rattled loose. I stopped in to get one at the dealers before I went down south on it but they are no longer available and I never replaced it as I assumed it was in pretty tight. This was the wrogn assumption.

Now I have a sheared off header stud on the rear cylinder which is a real dick to get to and will provide me a weekend or two of fun and swearing.

So, yes, the way the exhaust is fitted is very important.

Interestingly, the bolt is the same one that holds part of the firebolt front fairing and the little cut out in your swingarm on.
