.....so now you need to add the rest of the bike, especially the sidestand and then disconnect the rear shock, move the swingarm through its arc and see what this does to the idler movement

Ok, silly question time, does the belt need a sprung tensioner :?:

With the suspension unloaded the belt sits on the idler,as the suspension loads up and the swingarm moves up - or the bike moves down- the length of the arm effectively lengthens, the belt moves away from the idler and the belt gets tighter. All due to the offset in the front pulley to swingarm pivot.

Soz William should have asked more q's when you were here, but was more interested in my chain conversion which as you saw is a real pita :!:

If you need to see more I'm going to put the standard rear end back in so I can get that cut and shut arm on a jig and I can make a new, tidy one.
I fancy doing some road miles with some logging just so I can get used to ecmspy, now I've got it activated.

Will probably seek your advice on the front mounting of the arm, need some ideas to replicate the offset that I built in,to clear the chain run.

Good to meet you :yup:

Been reading up on the FS tensioner for the XBs, can see why a spring loaded one is req'd now.
Didn't realise that belt over tension was responsible for the rear wheel bearing probs.

Little Joe has an EBR chain conversion and a lighter 3 bearing wheel, but still has bearing issues, especially noticable movement, even though he has almost zero suspension movement.

mines all back to standard now Willie, just waiting to get my pulley back from the guy making new sprockets. feel free to come and try mk1 tensioner.

Took some pics of my swingarm travel while I was dismantling,I think that if I can lose the talkspammer as planned and lower the bike another 4 or 5 inches then the centres all start to line up.

I should be able to forget the offset I built in at the front mount.

Now that would be a shame if you put it in the history bin.... what about all us 1125 owners who are relying on you to come up with a solution ?????

Going off on a tangent - do the belts have a shelf life ?

I'm thinking of getting a couple of spares but there's no point if they perish or harden through non use ... :?:
