1) What is the TOTAL WATTAGE on each side. That's the relay size you need. So if you've 10W bulbs in each indicator - you need 2*10W or 20W. A 12W wont do it.
2) Some of the electronic relays simply will not respond if you get it wrong. Some are also VERY sensible to pin orientation. They do not support reverse voltage.

If it were me I'd bridge the relay to start with and check the circuits/fuse. Nah just kidding - METER NOW and stop pissing about.

Thanks mate, will do.....

I suspect I will have to get a new relay, trouble is only secondhand Guilera 3372 available on tinternet. Does any of you main dealer bunch, know the part number that replaces it?

Maz? What would you use?

Pretty sure its toast, it has a bulge on it that says 'blown up inside' , but not sure what would happen if a bulb blew would it take both sides , left and right, out?

Cheers for all advice...

Looking at the socket for the relay, there's 3 wires - orange/white = live with ignition 'on' ; black = earth and brown/violet = feed to turn signal switch.......a quick test is to bridge the orange/white and brown/violet......toggle the turn signal switch and the indicators should light solid.

 do I? dont I?

I checked the bulbs and all are ok....., I mean they haven't blown.....fiddly bloody things as well....

Just managed to get Part Number Guilera 3372 (05 - mine was 01, so obviously updated......) from local Harley dealer for €20.82,(same price as Black Bear HD including shipping, will order from them in the future though, liked talking to Nobby....)

Is the quick bridging safe to do without frying anything? I haven't got a meter, but I will bloodywell buy one if it saves rewiring the bugger.....

Is there any potentially bad ground points I need to check that would cause problems here? I will check the exhaust bracket as I have had that changed recently.....Any others though?

I get lots of uneven roads here, and lots of vibration, so it can't be good......

 ....it'll be just fine.......all you're doing is replacing the flasher units intermittent feed with a permanent one.

Never doubt the :maz: ter.

Forgive my perception of impending doom at the other end. Some very basic errors in fault diagnosis had me concerned for the X1's safety. To see this and realise you're attacking the ECM "semi blindfolded) suggested a limited understanding of electrickery. I freely confess I dislike electronics (working with the bloody stuff is enough) - But 'lectrics is a key area one has to master if one has a 1979 Guzzi.

You must have a grip like Darth Vader after a throttle on 1979 Guzzi..... I had a go on one once, couldn't masturbate for a couple of weeks......

The badger has a big grin, new relay fitted on and never heard it click so (I hate this word now but it's fashionable) ROBUSTLY! It never ever sounded so definitive 'click on - click off' since I have owned it....

Thanks all, as usual, for all your advice....
