If you mean the ETS, then yes, HD use the same one ie. same part no./price.

I will be looking at making up replacements using a standard K couple potted into the original housing.......shouldn't cost more than a quid each.

Well, if they turn out as good as your speedo sensor savers, they'll be worth a few quid more than that.
( Christ! That sounds so suck up! Must be getting late ;) )
Will you be doing them mail order :P

I'll have a scout around the aftermarket books, when I get a chance.

The first price was about right wene I bought my bike. No I do not as I have had no need to look at these part prices and was not aware of these price hikes.

I was thinking on a 12R or even a 1125R to go with the Uly but that will be history now. I can pick up a mint RSV-R for about 3k and that is a blinding V-Twin bike.

Sorry Erik but HD have killed you off. I will call HD to give them a bad day in the morning.

Ho-Hum. Bye, bye Buell.

Maz - what is OEM resistance? - there are one or two instrument makers out there - and maybe something from SMITHS/VDO/KOSO will fit. CAI (SMITHS) at a guess will eb a good start - they were very straight when I mailed them about a new speedo for the Guzzi. Even sent me eng. plans! - Smiths 13 quid at Demon Tweeks. KOSO - 10.13 Euros. VDO are not as cheap. But any breaker has Audis/VWs etc.

My supplier checked and double checked the price of the ETS and it is correct.
They are going to try and get an explanation from Buell UK......I'm not gonna hold my breath but if one is forthcoming, I'll let you know.

Is the £357 front disc for an XB?

I had a 2005 Aprilia RSV for 3 years before buying a 1125R last month and although I loved it, because of it's looks mainly, it was too much trouble. It had all of the famous Italian 'Character'. Clocks that fail, Front Brake Discs that warp, a Rear Brake that never worked, Dodgy electrics, Ropey build quality, together with non existent dealer back up or support from the factory. I persevered to try and justify such an expensive, pretty, but ultimately flawed 'Toy', but It couldn't be used every day! It just wasn't up to the job. So I ended up trading it in for an immaculate 2008 Buell 1125R, 1800 miles, £4995. BARGAIN!!! I've done over 1000 miles in just a month and I'm loving it. It isn't as pretty as the RSV, but it's brutal looks definitely grow on you and in every other respect, I would say it is better than the RSV. Most people say that Aprilia are the best of the Italian bunch, regarded as being more Japanese in reliability and build quality, but I wouldn't touch another one and if they're the best, then the rest are at the end of a very long barge pole!

Parts are subject to yet another price hike, mostly around 10% eg. a belt will now cost you 188.61 incl. vat

Worst example on my invoice today was an engine temp sensor......last week I paid £42.51 incl. vat.....the one I bought today cost £86.44 incl. vat !!!!!! :x

Time has come for the blessed islanders to realize, what kind of prices most customers around the world have payed for years already ...

I'd have thought a price freeze more relevant in this current climate

would be the smartest but if you want (or have) to go through an authorized harley dealer to purchase your parts then you end up paying 3 times the amount that it will cost in the states because here, they must go via uk harley for parts...too many "middle-men"!!!

Of course, how silly of me .

An XB one is £183 inc VAT, springs, washers and bolts.

I had a 2002 RSV-R, with all the bits (Thermi can, Ohlins, Brembos, OZ wheels, carbon, etc - very nice), but I only had it a year before it was nicked. I did about 6k on it but before it went it needed £500+ spending on it. One thing was fork seals and Ohlins service dept said that was because I had rode it in the rain . The only things I remember as a problem were the rear brake (total rubbish) and hard engine starting.

I did a tour to Germany and used it to go to work without a problem but I found it could "get-out-of-shape" if you were not in the mood so to speak. You needed to be "on-the-ball" to get the best out of it. The Uly just does it all with no drama. In fact it flatters even the most ham-fisted of moves. The RSV would bit you in the arse.

The Uly, over RSV-R, handles much better, is more comfy, cheap to insurance (no garage, alarm, etc, req), great mpg and does everything very well as long as you do not want to do a 150mph. Thinking on it again I would have a 12R or 1125R and not the Aprilia.

Here is a pic .

Kinell, another price hike....last one I sold (around 2 months ago) was 135 quid for the kit, which included all the fitting hardware.
