yes, the black one is mine and the palmer bracket works very well...even at speed the wind is very limited and there is just a steady stream of air rather than buffeting...

Yeah I often go a run down the coast when I don't want to go to far and have my Lunch there. The coast roads a cracking bit of road as well.

Hi Norrie,

The other good thing about Umberto's apart from the good food and friendly service is that you can also park your bike on the pavement outside and watch it while you're having a pizza..........!

A mate & I are planning to ride to Inverness next year to see an old mate. The lad I'll be riding with is coming up from the Isle of Wight, shame its on a CBR. But at least my Ully will get a good run, I'm really looking forward to it

I am so envious. It looks like you had an absolutely fabulous time. I love the scenery and the remoteness of the places you visited. That is just a perfect way to spent time on a bike. That's the area I do most of my riding. I'm in Edinburgh and like to head south into that area.

The run from Port Seton down to Dunbar (as Norrie said - the coast road) is awesome - very twisty and bumpy with every kind of corner you could imagine thrown in one after another.

After that I like heading over the Lammermuir - lots of single track and wild country. I've been out there in winter on the STT and it handles it alright. Not tried any off-roading on it though!

But anyway, glad you enjoyed your trip and you've spotted one of the best things about this area - it's quiet and nowhere near as busy as down south! I imagine the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines are similar though.

I live in Edinburgh city centre and can be riding on those roads about 20 mins after leaving the flat.

Is that the road that takes you over to Cranshaws?
If so that's a cracking road.

also, one other thought that crossed my mind having reflected on how well the Uly performed is:
How high the average moving speed was - average of over 57mph...
I mean it did include large sections of highway but also those little lanes and on both ways - up and down - about 70mls of single lane roads!

just shows that you can cover distance at speed...the bike felt solid even with panniers on and me taking her to triple figures...(lol)
