for me Mitch those pins dont look safe - gasing it over a crest and you leave you seat will those pins hold ??? - i prefer the split / r pin myself.

The effort it takes to get the seat off I can't see there being any problem with them and if you leave the seat why would there be any force on the pins?

over time that hinge will become more easy to turn straight -having a split pin i think is better of the two ways to go.

The design of the pins makes it impossible for the seat to swivel them straight, and the seat foam is enough to stop them straightening up. The seat needs to be pushed back quite hard for it to lift up and come away. I'm going to sort out stainless versions anyway, but this type of pin is the simplest method

I have just done the Stainless steel pins on my CR with R clips and I have one little refinement: over the pins I put an O ring, there is a wee bit of pressure on the clip when it goes in, and I had some silicone-covered wire lying about, so attached that to the clips, and then secured it one-sided to the frame strut. Pins are Loctited in place.

I did look into the drop-nose pins, but they are hard to work, and I want to be certain they won't come loose on their own.

Just my tuppence....

I have forgotten what is under these at on an 1125, but I can't remember the last tine I took my seat off on the Firebolt. What is driving the need for quick release?

The space under the seat is very useful if you want to carry a sturdy chain and lock, for instance.
I find the space left in the tail very limited, so I'm happy to use the space under the seat.
Apparently someone was able to get a spare belt in there......

There are a few different options here in this prehistoric post...But did anyone manage to perfect this pin system?

I am swaying towards the r clip version.

I'm using stainless R clips with rubber O rings so you can pull them out easier.

They don't have to be tight as the O ring holds them in place if you hook it back over the pin.

I just made a couple of screw in pins myself and then a couple of r clips to keep them in place.
