JBR, have you been riding the bike regularly, or has it been parked up for a while ?

Check the throttle cables and lube them - for the first 2 winters of ownership of my 1125R it was parked for a few weeks due to the weather etc, and when I went back to it again the throttles kept sticking - I had to strip them down and lube everything to free it all up again. Also the throttle cables seem to "settle" if the bike's not used so check that the cable routing is right, a few others have had on BWB have had similar problems in the past with sticking throttles.

Didn't happen this winter as I rode both bikes regularly ...

May explain the lack of engine braking if the cables are dragging and not returning properly.

the revs drop when I pull the clutch in with a closed throttle when the bike is being ridden, I'm 99% sure the cables are not sticking.
