Soon to be renamed the River Buell due to the amount of XB's that swim in it.

hi guys,

i had a look at the 27k mile bike and it looks ok...not immaculate but ok. The bike had detailed full service history incl. wheel bearings, brakes etc...

also right side air scoop and the FS belt tensioneer are already fitted and the luggage looked like it has never been used...

there was other interest in the bike while i was there and i think it might go quickly...a decent bike.

i than went to a local HD-Buell dealer... and they have a Black 57 reg Uly with 650mls...etc...for about £5k...incl. 12 months which is seriously tempting....

what should i do????

i am confused.
Lars

I can't advise you as to which Uly to get, I'm too short in the leg for any of them !

BUT... I would advise you to check the VIN number on the headstock - look at the tenth digit - this will be the model year ( 8 is 2008 etc ) as dealers often have stock leftover and they may not get registered until much later - just because it's on a 57 plate does not necessary mean that it's an 07 model ...

Get the newer/lower mileage/still under warranty version......the high mileage shed will be well fucked, seriously.

she had 06 written on near the serial number...so i guess its an 06 model...registered in 57...

still good though...

Ah, but if the dealer does not point it out to you you could use it as a bargaining chip to negotiate the price down - somebody on here was having trouble selling their bike as it was post-registered but the dealer hadn't told him - but I cannot find the thread. :oooops:

Also some parts and servicing procedures may be different and you need to be aware as it could have serious consequences ...

I wouldn't be buying any bike with 27000 miles on the clock, specially not a Buell, your living in wonderland if you think they get better with age why would Buells buck that trend?

Who was the prat that said the xt is gay, how old are you? learn some vocab :tosser:  the suspention is sorted on xt's and it comes with luggage what more could you ask for?

hi guys,

thanks for all the advice so far...
I definetely want the XB12X not the XT...I am tall enough for the X - i think its better looking...
i am still looking around and i am keeping an open mind. i have ruled the 27k mile bike pretty much out...yes, its a lot of bike for little money, but spend 1k more and i get one with 1/4 the mileage.
I quiet like the Black ones, but would also consider an orange one as they look funky!

are there may differences between late 05, 06 bikes...i know from reading here and on the Badweather site that the 07 had a few things change, but i dont know about the know about the early ones?
I want to get one within the next 4 weeks probably so that i can still use it this summer...mind you - have 4 other bikes in the garage already, but no buell!!! :oooops:
anyway keep the comments coming
thx Lars

hi guys,

my search is still ongoing.
the 27k bike was sold early last week - did not hang about too long.
i looked at another 05-reg bike but that had "6" as 10th digit on the VIN so i guess its the 06 model.

standard apart from that...and i reckon i could get it for £4k...

still i also see some dealers have got very low mileages ones for sale at the £5k mark with luggage etc...

so many decisions to make...

i will keep you posted.
thx Lars
