There's some sound advice from :maz:

This what I found in a motor that had only previously been apart by a dealer. The pushrod was so bent, I could pass a 3mm drill bit under it  I also found remnants of a valve guide in the exhaust :o (I had to saw the pipe up to fish it out  )
Otherwise, the motor was barely run in lOl

This week, I bought a front brake light switch for my Sporty - £12.01 + £2 P&P Drag Specialties item from Hogparts UK.
List price for the genuine HD item from Jersey HD is £59.10. If you add VAT to that, it'll bring the price to £70.92 - just under six times what I paid.

I'm not entirely sure how the :shut: they justify that price for a simple electrical switch.

it does worry me at times some of the basic mechanical question asked on this forum by people undertaking repairs to there bikes .
:maz: you must have the patience of a saint, when they turn up with their bike in bits after they tried and failed

It's lack of advice as no one is telling you how the valves or pushrods can get knackered !!!
It's all about bleeding the hydraulic adjusters down before the bike is started

People do like to have a go themselves and when i did my rear rocker gasket a few years a go i was a bit daunted by doing it and also swopping the swingarm etc and to tell you the truth i was spurred on by hecklers on here .....
I think everyone else has the patience of a saint when reading all the negative shite :maz: puts up :ner:

It's been done to death......if you use the search facility, you'll find that I and several others have explained the proceedure several times

.......and it's far more complex than letting the lifters bleed down before starting the engine

Hmmm.......negative or realistic/brutally honest to the point that it actually impacts on my income etc ?

Lets try this another way.......you explain what you do for a living or maybe something you're expert at/passionate about etc......dont forget to mention all the pros/cons etc......and then I'll try to tell YOU where you're going wrong and why you just dont get it etc........

Here's the thing.......I realise a lot of peeps around this place think I'm an arsehole and I've been told as much to my face on many occaisions lOl
I reckon that instead of posting my pearls of wisdom/shite all over this place, I should instead just post up a blog/daily diary with pix of what occurs at my shop
This way peeps could draw their own conclusions without me saying a word .......today, for example, was yet another groundhog day.......yet another XB engine stripped with both its pistons wedged between the flywheels, flailing conrods bent beyond recognisition having destroyed cylinders, heads and crankcases, bent pushrods, valves, broken guides, trashed oil pump, etc. etc......another day in Buell world for me and another day in denial/paradise for the rest of you :)

You see Buells in the same way an A & E nurse sees bikers. In your job you inevitably see far more broken ones than most of us do lOl

But ER, Holby City and Casualty are still popular...

I prefer Coast and Balls of Steel myself...
