Lets not forget guys, LED's is the way forward like it or not. Allot of cars and bikes are sold new with LED lighting, they are brighter much more noticable and last longer. Thats not to say it gives us an excuse to go and fit lighting that is not noticable. We all want to be safe and noticable.

I have just ordered an LED tail light with intergrated indies however I wont be connecting the indies as I have already got LED indies plus personally dont feel safe with it. I have just been to my local MOT station with my indies for the front of the bike in hand and asked what they thought. Response was, fine so long as they are bright, the right colour and flash rate is correct i.e. not flashing red or very fast/slow.

It really doesn't matter on the size, its about the light emittance they give off. You cant regulate a light by size, its about the power rating, light emittance, colour and flash rate. If a 40mm indie gives off a brighter light than a stock bus light what more can you say, you will get noticed and probably more so. One, because its brighter and 2 because they look good :D I'm in no doubt we put them on because of the look factor (I did, cant stand the stock look on any bike) but in this case the bonus is they are also brighter and more efficent.

Like I said before there are allot of bikes out there with LED lighting old and also new bikes, so either we are saying they are all illegal or not there is no in between and I tend to fall on the side of they are fine. It seems to me its more of a choice thing, you either like stock indies or not. Either way is cool, its your bike no one elses. I do things to my bike for me not Mr Jones and his likes or dislikes we are all individuals with freedom of expression....

I have gone to an LED stop tail light on FUBAR, as much as Maz thinks it's bling, after following Mojo and realising just how dim the tail light is, I did it as an upgrade, fits the standard light, just has rows of LEDs instead of a single filament bulb. (I know the bulb is a doulble filament, but I mean that when you're not braking, the filament that is working is not very bright at all :!:

I know the one you mean...but I have an led board that plugs into the old bulb fitting, has alot more LEDs than the bulb option, but I agree, just an LED bulb is a good upgrade!!

I've replaced my rear light with a LED bar to fit in with the new cut down tail - when I asked Maz what he thought of the whole idea/concept he said he hated it. I asked him to expand on his view, what exactly he didn't like about it he further explained:-

"I just fuckin' 'ate it, it's shiiiiiite".

The ultimate Buell-smith he might be, Trinny & Suzannah he ain't !

Whatever the debate - I think the immediacy and brightness of LEDs has got to make sense. That's my 2p.

(okay okay, so I confess to having seen T&S once - they were doing a thing on different body shapes of women - how the hell was I to know that it would be a toss up [stop it] between 'fat' and 'ugly')

I used one on my Raptor. It was the only bulb that survived the vibes :D 'twas bright too 8-)

I bought a torch off Ebay(£15 and the size of a small AA Maglite)) to try out the new generation of Cree Led bulbs. This thing will light up a rabbit, fox, badger easily out to 150yds and the rechargable battery lasts for ages. It's completely replaced the old lead acid set up that I used for 'lamping'. There's even a strobe setting for disorientating intruders (and it would  ), presumably while you search for something more lethal

You need to get a Free Spirits tensioner before doing anything else.
Oh and remove the warning labels as they look shite.

Bonzo,
Bar end mirrors are cateye BM500 from Halfords, £10 each but you can only get right hand ones in the UK, so you might have noticed I have 2 RH ones fitted. LH on order from ebay.

Norrie,
Yeah a Free Spirits tensioner and exhaust are next.
"Oh and remove the warning labels as they look shite." todays job.

I suppose if one is willing to swap out the LED's back to stock, along with the relay, come inspection time, the only risk you would run is if you get stopped by a cop who really wants to find something wrong on your bike.

Also, as to keeping the stock, some folk have shortened the stalk of the front units to look a bit more trim. I don't think an inspector would be likely to pick up on that, and it cuts down on the "stripper waggling her titties" effect that you get with the longer front stalks.

For anyone interested, the best LED brake light/turn singal-and-brake-combo units I've seen are made by Robert Hall, at www.xblights.net. Super-bright, cool configuration options, totally non-approved by DOT/MoT.

This is my second. The first one detached it's mini circuit board from the metal body. I put it down to the vibes, but it could have just been a faulty one.
Shit happens, number two's been in there for about 3 years, so far.
