It wasn't meant to add weight, it was meant to reposition your body to see if your weight could be distributed better to try to sort out this handling problem......

Dull question (I know, but ...): even if preload/damping/whatever is adjusted, a different spring installed and so on, wouldn't this problem occur just the same way, but only at another point? More throttle, bumpier road, ...?

I mean, if a tank slapper is induced by the front wheel getting off ground and coming back down again, then once the fork is fully expanded, the wheel is losing contact with the surface?

This has been an interesting thread which has helped me resolve two issues,
on My FXR I had the weaving handle bars issue at high speed ( it's S&S equipped ;) )- took a click off compression on dyna sport forks I use on it, now sweet.
Took one click off pre-load on AST on S1 and that's now sweet, no more weave on handlebars on acceleration :D
