Great job Willie, now have rear suspension, bike much more pleasant to ride.Doesn't feel like the back end's going to slide on corner exit.

I'll get some miles on it -as soon as this mental wind stops-see how it stands up.

Top job :4roz:

Took her out yesterday-mot time-about 30 miles in all,bit of logging thrown in.
Tensioner still working A ok,not fell off yet Willie :yup:

Definitely nicer having some rear suspension,I'm just suprised that no other 1125 owners have found the same thing.

I think it's time for a round of applause for WILLY!
You took it upon yourself to address a problem that didn't even affect your own bike, and through your enthusiasm and doggedness come up with a solution that many said could not be done. All the while, you were subjected to sneering criticism from those that knew better, yet you forged ahead regardless, letting it all roll off your back/ pass over your head.
It may not be the finished article yet, sure, you admit that there may be more tweaking ahead, but I think it's time for all to acknowledge just what you've achieved; namely, fitting a functioning tensioner in a space that the learned experts deemed impossible.

proper job willie :worthy:
was quiet supprised with the amount of movment
as you say stronger spring and couple tweeks
had a look on youtube for xb freespirits vid for comparison no test runs just static demo and easy to move with hand , still would be nice to see a freespirits test run vid to compare amount of movement

wishing you all the best with this project

The movement of the pulley wheel is exagerated as it is further from the swinging arm pivot point then the standard position.

Yeah all that especially the doggedness bit as I hear he likes a bit of doggin and fiddlin. It would have been simpler to just grind a few teeth off the pulley to achieve more slack but our Willy don't give up. Well done mate, and all involved. :worthy:

Whilst I admire pink geezers dogged determination, I have so many reservations re. the subject of what he's 'achieved' here I dont know where to start......so, rather than launching into what might be seen as a 'slagging', I will instead ask peeps to consider a couple of basic questions......
Why is it considered that XB's and 1125's need to modify the standard system ?.....I think most will know the answer to this one.
If a sprung style tensioner is going to be employed, what's the criteria for it's design ? ie. what do we need it to do and what do we need it not to do ?
Discuss........

OK....here goes with my answer....
I haven't a fecking clue!!!! I was told I ought to have a free spirits tensioner on my XB, and was fortunate to have one already fitted to the one I bought. I don't know why I should have one or what it really does, but if it is recommended by those that know, then I am happy that it is the right thing. I know that it is meant to help lengthen the life of the belt..but that's all.

Hope this helps..... :yup: ;)
