the standard Buell gearing on my X1 was
55-29 UK gearing ( 55 tooth pulley part no.40244-91)
the US option is
61-27 US gearing ( 61tooth pulley part no.40246-91) cheers Dave :yup:

the US Buell ratio pulleys are a bit hard to find & can be expensive.

Sportster rear pulley (part no.40246-91) has 61 teeth
this will fit BUT you need to enlarge the central big hole by about 3mm Dia.
cheers Pete :yup:

i only changed the rear pulley on mine which gives 1/2 US gearing , but a marked improvement in bottom end response

be aware though this alters your speedo , it will be around 10% optimistic

for full US gearing front & rear pulley , you are going to need a US spec speedo
or a speedo altering device.

I'm sure I saw a plug in speedo corrector on the Dutch 'Twins' Buell site. Interested in doing this gearing swap on the M2 myself, so was looking at options to correct any mph error I would get afterwards. I'll try and drag out the listing and re-post later.

Would the stock 126 tooth belt be long enough to cope with 61 tooth rear pully? Having to swap belt will make an otherwise cheap mod a bit expensive. Busy shopping for a 61 tooth Harley pully now. After riding the M2 this weekend on the stock 29/55 ratio I'm already finding it too leggy, and the 1/2 US spec gearing looks like a good option.

Stock belt is 128T and yes it works fine with half 'n' half gearing.

I recently swapped to US gearing but the speedo healer I fitted isn't correcting enough. Considering fitting a secondhand US speedo. Would one from a 1999 spec injected X1 work on my 2002 carbed M2? Don't want to drop cash on one only to find it's a non starter.

:? - GT - the Corrector from Twin claims a 50% adjustment and the ratio difference between full UK and full US Gearing is just under 20% - so I was thinking of buying this model - can I ask why is yours not working ? -
