Took the new toy out for a run yesterday - only about 60miles to try out the suspension set up as per the book - seems to be better, handling certainly improved ![]() Near home it started popping/farting on the over-run for the 1st time - a bit concerned as to the cause. At home noticed the front exhaust 'banjo?' strap had burst, so thought this may have caused a leak + the popping. Today went out to fit the comfort kit only to notice the exhaust had completely split just before the 2-1 manifold joint !! Will be phoning Edinburgh Harley tomorrow to see next course of action & also whether I can get the rusty 'can' replaced - don't see it lasting another 3months - has anyone else encountered these probs ? ![]() |

The exhausts all rust Steve. The coating was always shite. As for the splitting... depending on the bike you bought (tuber or fueler?) it could have different causes, so we need to know what bike you've got. |

Nope ![]() A new strap should always be used.......they generally snap because they've been over tightened ie. muffler expands more than the strap can cope with. |

The bike's a 2010 XB12XT - not a good start to a new bike ! Phoned dealer this morning (Edinburgh Harley) - very helpful, guy has ordered new strap & downpipes. ![]() Also, when I mentioned the rusty can, he said they would send it out for ceramic coating to stop the rust (hopefully). Just need to arrange drop-off or I'm hoping it can be collected if they're in the area soon. |

Seen broken downpipes a few times now on 08 onwards bikes. Camcoat will slow down the corrosion but it will still rust eventually. If I were you, I'd get US headers and a stainless aftermarket muffler. |

mich wrote: The exhausts all rust Steve. Well not ALL. Some of the more exclusive models had Stainless exhausts. Mine still managed to split though. ![]() |

Cheers for the advice guys - bike is going in on Saturday to get repairs done. Will prob wait until the recoated can disintegrates before replacing with S/S one. I'd heard Buells were not the best for finish, but wasn't expecting this on such a new bike - fingers crossed no more 'incidents'. Think I'll get the FZ6 back on the road meantime seeing as the temp is now above freezing ! |

in the interium - get some acf50 on the exhaust and stay away from quill exhausts but apart from that depends on how thick your wallet is - we do have albert666 who is a master to pipes ![]() |

Check with them how long the exhaust will be away getting ceramic coated. They said 6 weeks to me, at minimum. Not too bad if you have another bike, but at the time mine was my only transport. Edinburgh HD won't give you a loan bike for that time. |

When I spoke to the service bloke he said 2-3wks - will wait and see what they say again on Saturday. Whether it's 2wks or 2mths , I'm really put out having to pull in favours to get help from a mate with van to drive us about 150 mile round trip because of shoddy parts ! ...Then another 150 mile trip to collect it !! ![]() The only sweetner is it's still covered by the warranty ![]() |
