Hi All,

Having a bit of a problem with HD customer service. I bought my 08 Uly from an independant dealer in Feb this year and when I contacted HD UK to get a copy of the service manual they told me that the bike had been sold to the previous owner in 2010 as an ex-demo and that the warranty ran until august 2012. They sent me an e-mail to confirm this.

The other day I noticed my ignition switch and neutral light were faulty so I contacted Guilford HD. I gave them the bike details and told them about the warranty at which point they told me the warranty had expired last year. They told me to contact HD UK to follow this up. After contacting HD UK I have now been told that the bike is not under warranty and that the dates originally quoted were due to a glitch in the system.

I have an e-mail from HD UK confirming the Warranty, do I legally have a leg to stand on? Surely HD need to warrant the bike based on their original statement?

Any help will be appreciated

I know exactly how the misunderstanding has arisen  They have checked one part of the system which calculates the warranty from the point of "Retail Sale" when they should have checked as if they were inputting a warranty claim which would give the correct information.

From a real world view I would say that you have no warranty. From a legal point of view where someone has made an error but still put something in black and white for you I think you will need to speak to a lawyer ;)

Steve
