... using the high bars versus the low, "cafe race" handlebars?

Have my CR in next week at BB for an annual service and was thinking of ordering a set to try out.

Interested in views on them.

I had the high bars fitted to mine before delivery ...gives a great and comfy riding position ....perfectly adequate for a 3000+ mile trip to Bruno and back last summer and in my opinion look far better as well

Depends on what you want the bike for ...

... I have upright bars on mine, and they are much more comfortable for commuting than the dropped bar option ...

... but then again, I do also have an R.

Seriously, if you are riding the bike on a daily basis then the upright bars are a much better option, especially when coupled with dropped foorpegs, either the Uly or Lightning pegs will do and give you a much more upright riding position. This setup is so much easier to get through traffic on.

I have the Cafe style bars on mine, find it comfy to rid.

I'd get rid of them too Jon. High bars on mine and just tickety boo.
I think all 2010 models had them as standard.

Well, I think I might have the only 2010 CR model with the "ace" bars on.
I know that everyone's riding style is different, and although I thought I would love the high bars, in practice, for me, I found the bike feeling a little vague in some corners, I felt I was sat on top of it, as opposed to feeling at one with the bike.
Having test ridden other peoples CR's with the low bars, I was struck how at one they made me feel with the bike, I had so much more confidence.
The high bars are more comfortable, no doubting, the Ace bars are less so.
But I haven't regretted fitting them, I'm really starting to feel at home on the bike for the first time since owning it.

Well, mine has the cafe race bars on, and getting through traffic is not a problem, and comfort was not too bad over a 2100 mile round trip to the Black Forest and Nurburgring last year. 

However, the bars do not have much in the range of adjustment, so I was wondering if fitting the high bars might allow some adjustment, (fore and aft), even the possibility of experimenting with other Renthal type flat bars, ( Supermoto style)?

So, Jon, you are not the only one riding the CR with the cafe racer bars, both Jonnyboyrebel and I also have them. So there are least three of us. 

Although I think I would like to try some.

I'd be interested to hear what people have done with the R ? I have fitted a set of clip-ons above my yokes ( non standard front on mine) and now find the bike super comfy for road use. It has made the front very easy to lift, I'd imagine it's more like riding a CR now.

I love the riding position on my R, but I've just put higher adjustable clip ons on my Duc because these were killing my wrists. The R still feels like a comfy tourer in comparison.

I think 'Chopper Reid' has something to say on this subject

Had no complaints with the standard position, just with my R1 front now on the clip-ons had to go on top, or under the yoke, so opted for the top to see what it was like, i think below will be a bit heavy on the wrists as it will be more like a normal jap bike then.
