Post subject: | Firebolt mods Advice Please |
I have finally done it , for better or worse just bought a 2006 (2004 model) firebolt 1200 with only 2700 miles on the clock , I love it so far and want to keep it that way , so could do with some advice on frame protection as it appears very vulnerable , was thinking of carbon frame protectors and front and rear axle bungs , maybe also the frame mounted protector bar , anyone suggest which ones are best (and cheapest), also the free spirit belt tensioner seems popular . why? , is it worthwhile . And is there anything else I should be considering ?. Thanks Dave |

The free spirits prolong the life of your belt and gearbox output bearing. Should be the first thing on the to do list |

Hi Dave bolt on frame protectors ,more expensive but a better option than carbon or plastic stick on types the stick on types don't protect much change your oil & filter regularly 2.5k , & remember the separate gear box oil too if it still has the snorkel in the air box take it off K&N air filter (or something similar ) after market exhaust can ,as the standard one is mild steel & rots.. don't buy a Quill they vibrate to bits keep a wary eye on wheel bearings , only got 5k from mine H/T leads can chaff keep an eye on em it is a fun sweet handling bike enjoy it you can fit XBS foot pegs which are an inch lower for comfort too DO NOT perform clutchless gear changes |
