Post subject:  Firebolt mods Advice Please

I have finally done it , for better or worse just bought a 2006 (2004 model) firebolt 1200 with only 2700 miles on the clock , I love it so far and want to keep it that way , so could do with some advice on frame protection as it appears very vulnerable , was thinking of carbon frame protectors and front and rear axle bungs , maybe also the frame mounted protector bar , anyone suggest which ones are best (and cheapest), also the free spirit belt tensioner seems popular . why? , is it worthwhile . And is there anything else I should be considering ?.

Thanks Dave

The free spirits prolong the life of your belt and gearbox output bearing.
Should be the first thing on the to do list

Hi Dave
bolt on frame protectors ,more expensive but a better option than carbon or plastic stick on types
the stick on types don't protect much
change your oil & filter regularly 2.5k , & remember the separate gear box oil too
if it still has the snorkel in the air box take it off
K&N air filter (or something similar )
after market exhaust can ,as the standard one is mild steel & rots.. don't buy a Quill they vibrate to bits
keep a wary eye on wheel bearings , only got 5k from mine
H/T leads can chaff keep an eye on em
it is a fun sweet handling bike enjoy it

you can fit XBS foot pegs which are an inch lower for comfort too

DO NOT
perform clutchless gear changes

Fit fuel in the tank, rider on the bike, and ride it :)
