That is a lot of money to pay for the heartache of alternator and clutch problems. Be prepared for your local HD dealer to point you in the direction of the supplying dealer who looks to be at the other end of the country.

These bikes were selling for £4500 new, so that is a hell of a price...

What is "low mileage"?

There were recalls on the clutch mainshaft, sorted by '09 and the front brake line recall looks to done on that bike.
Problem areas are the alternator stator burning its windings (you can get them rewound to a lower output and some claim a switching V/R helps - but I can't see how really), the water pump seals can leak (look for water witness marks on the drilled hole above the pump (there's an upgrade seal kit to sort this) and your clutch slave cylinder WILL leak fluid eventually. HD brought out a seal + piston sleeve kit to fix this leak - but it doesn't. Later this month, I'm going to sent a pre production kit from another bike parts manufacturer to try on my 1125. Hopefully, this will solve the leaking.
They have a lovely engine and is probably easier to ride fast than my 1198.
I'd avoid that particular bike though, it's £2k overpriced

£5800 is over the odds for what these fetch. If you bought it and didn't like it, you'd struggle to recoup much more than £4k for it. However, it is still a lot of bike for the money, and if you plan on keeping it for 5/6 years, then resale value isn't an issue. Its your money to spend how you please. If you bide your time you'll probably pick up a black 08 signature edition one for less than £3.5k. The 08 ones didn't suffer the stator problems either.

Thank EVERYONE!!

Yh I thought it was over priced too, but I'm so in love with the 1125r even more so with the white one's I plan on keeping the one I do get forever as its a icon and by far the best ever bike I have ridden. I forget who but someone said to me why don't you put the 08 stator on the 2010 one to stop this issue. I don't know if that will work but its worth ask you guys?

In the mean time I going to have to put my best haggling boots on and drive this price down...

i got some better pic's of the heel guards...

If you fit the 08 stator then you will need the 08 rotor too as they are not interchangeable.

Y0442.1AMA - £669.41 - stator

Y0533.1AM - £812.71 - Rotor

(Prices from Jersey HD website).

So it's going to cost about £1,500 to change, that will pay for a lot of rewinds !

Blimey, my heal guards were way worse than that 3 weeks after I picked the bike up. Save yourself some money and make me a very generous offer for a bike thats actually been ridden.

I would be more concerned at the cost and the lack of recall work done, rather than the heel guards !

And you can always change the colour of the bodywork - even if you have to have it painted.
