Has anyone attempted to get an XB fitted with a pre '08 Remus (with road legal baffles) through a 105db track day noise test?

I haven't done one for a few years and it seems that they've really tightened up on noise. It will be at Brands (Indy) or Snett but I'm only really going to accompany a friend on his first track day.

my o4 xb12 with a remus was 106db with the quietest baffles in. the limit was 100db but they let me on track because "it's one of those american things". They also wanted me to hold the revs at 6000rpm for them to check .

This was at croft .

Have been thinking about a trackday for a while but don't know wether my very loud Uly would be allowed on track.

How far from the bike do they hold the meter and would they really measure it at 6000, that's pretty much the red line?

Also does anyone know if there's a reliable iPhone decebel meter?

Thanks. Jimbo

Probe should be held 1m away from outlet at 45deg. A large twin should be measured at 5000rpm. A lot of testers at the track don't do this.

Is the test speed not based on a % of your redline?

Wow, evidently not...

http://www.cadwell.ruffle.me.uk/include/scrut.html

Bit biased cos your Buell revs to 7000rpm, whereas an R1 will rev to nearly double that...

Thanks - don't suppose I will be able to do a trackday now in the UK as it seems all tracks have a noise limit........ :sun:

There are so many variables that absolute numbers are pretty meaningless. I was just wondering if anyone had experience of the baffled Remus and/or the particular circuits. I'm guessing that Brands will be tight (though probably less so for the Indy circuit) but I've never been to Snetterton.
I think Focused Events are at Brands next week so I might pop down and get them to test it.

That's exactly how we were tested at Brands in July. My Ducati 900 trike was 98db with baffles in, but a few of my mates only just squeezed under 105db on open cans. They also had meters placed around the track but I don't know if that's standard practice. It was the Modified live event for bikes and cars, and we got two sessions on the indy circuit.

My old works rubber cased 'nokia 5140i' model had a decibel meter (also camera, voice recorder, compass, stopwatch, etc, etc), but work retrieved them for cheaper model.
