Trashed my tent at the last rally, a cheap Argos special.
I had also borrowed an Oxford extendable tail pack from a mate.
Its time to buy my own kit and have decided to put a few extra pounds into it.
I have been looking at the Ventura luggage and a Kyham biker tent.
Anyone had experience of either, mostly to be used for three day rallies and the like.

We have one of these. It is great. Easy to erect, plenty of space, not too heavy to carry (6.5kg). Used ours throughout Europe last year. Bought ours from a local caping shop, so not a specialist supplier type, but good quality. Cost £70.

£6 Tesco special for me. Stuff it in the rucksack with a doss roll, then the classic lines of your S1 will not be sullied. 8-)
Stick a match to it when you're done, saves lugging it home. Cheaper than a packet of fags. ;)

Is it just you :?: Instead of having a sleeping bag AND a tent I gave up on the tent and used to use ex army waterproof sleeping bags - great for partying in, cos they have arms and a zip to get your legs out. You just drink until you fall over, and you're already in bed :P

It certainly streamlines your luggage. This was my total luggage, in an early Ventura bag, for a 3 year trip around Oz :P

I use the Ventura luggage. It's great except for the cost!
I also have a khyam biker tent. Although it's meant for bikes it's a bit big.
I went round France for 10 days in May. Just took a cheap Tesco 2 man tent.
It was fine, plenty of room for me & my stuff, and I didn't worry about damaging it!

I used a Ventura rack on my 1997 M2. It was great once I'd locktighted all the bolts in.

I also used a Kyham "highlander" for a long time. These days I have a smaller tent as well. The latter is small enough to fit inside the topbox on the "the barge".

I can never sleep well on "doss rolls" though I prefer a decent air bed or camp bed. Or, as at Rudesheim for this year's Magic Rally - a hotel! :o :o

Have to confess to a proper double airbed, double sleeping bag and proper pillows!! Carry all of this on the FJR with the tent. Hubby says it doesn't weigh too much, so is quite happy to carry it all.
