Got an email from Bill Sparks at Lakeshore Harley and it looks like HD is stopping US dealers from selling to the UK from 1st August...

The cost of ownership rises...

Hi Pash,
Is that bikes, or spares, or both? and is that just to protect British/European Harley dealers who sell overpriced bikes and bolt on Harley goodies to a bunch of chinless wonders like the 4 prats with more money than sense that I met at my local bike club last night? and the same dealers that took hard earned money when the customer bought a Buell who now don`t give a toss about supplying Buell spare parts to them, with the exception of a few namely Black Bear who still do a Stirling job of supplying spare parts and go the extra mile for you, thank christ for them and Maz.
Clive.

I generally get stuff from Riders or Blackbear, but where a part is no longer available and a part search is made, parts are often in the smaller HD dealerships in back and beyond (apologies to those I have used) in the US. It will be these places that I will miss...

Recent things I have bought this way being X1 rotor timing cup, S1 grips, S1/M2/X1 headlamp screws and washers, S1W decals etc.

from HDRCGB ..

"I have been importing from Adventure Harley Davidson for years. I contacted them yesterday and they confirmed no more exports from the 1st August.

Im not sure if this relates to new bikes, it doesn't affect used sales.

I can still buy original parts from my mate in Canada art Heritage Cycle Works as he isn't a main dealer... so there are way around the problem... "

i suppose if you have some US based friends or relatives
there are ways around it :?:

Maybe it`s time to organise a mass Buell ride out to HD headquarters in oxford to complain about the spares situation.Loads of bikes and loads of noise is bound to attract attention and unwanted bad press for them.Maybe even co-ordinate with other countries to do it on the same day there as well and if it affects harley`s then why not include them, some of them must be getting naffed off with it as well.Just a thought.

Maybe it was the dealers here that complained... I bet 1203 knows the real story ;)

:yup:
I would definitely be up for that, Long way out from my bit (a days ride to get there) but if it worked, it would be worth it in the long run.

I can get bits for my DISCONTINUED 1980's Mini dirt cheap, so it really grates that HD are offering no support what so ever to Buell owners :x

What makes this even more annoying is the time its taking dealers to get parts as well.
Could we not use one of those post shipping services where the item is shipped to a us address and then onto the UK (for a fee of course)?
Glad I got my brand new X1 forks last year.

Looks like holidays in USA will be the best option.

What are HDRCGB saying about this as it will hit them too?

You can still get parts, just not from US dealers...

Use Blackbear, I am sure Steve will do his best to pricematch LSHD...
