Without going to a stealer, is there an aftermarket one I can put on the Buell? I did hunt around and Hella do one on http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/281.html I don't want to go down the 'gay' audi led light route if possible..... |

Just about ANY bog standard load independent flasher relay. 40 quid seems a bit high. Even a bloody Motogadget one is only 30€uros Mine cost me USD13 from Taiwan - free shipping. |

Makes it poss to Flash from LEDs to Headlight bulbs (should this take your fancy). Does the X1 relay sit in a socket? - If so pin orientation matters. If not any old Live/Earth/Load pin config will do. S3's will run on anything. |

Tried the key in ignition wiggle, that made it click, so power getting to it , just not doing it's thing..... |

This is the little bugger.....note the bulge on the topside, and the lack of dusting on the base of the TV, I shall spank her for that.....  All bulbs are 21w and the relay is 20w , would this be the problem? Add to that heat under the saddle from Oil, and 40 degree in the summer temperatures here in Tenerife.... Btw what would a blown bulb do? Would it make all bulbs not function, or would they flash faster like on some cars?

Sounds as if all you need is a simple load independent 3 pin relay. If you need it now - get thee to your local generic scooter/bike centre. ime small independent Spanish garages are more inclined to be ingenious about repairs rather than start quoting OEM prices. 21W bulbs? - The originals were probably 10W looking at that piccie - looks like my OEM flasher too. You may well have burned the relay resistance out. Ambient heat is higher here (and so is Bonzo land)- so it's not that. Get those 21watters out - the housings probably are only rated to 10W as well. The wires should cope. It's why I fitted LED bulbs - I wanted more light but not more heat. |

Right got a relay in town it was 21w 12V so should have been ok , the pins were slightly further apart, so we put it in and nada, zilch.....luckily I didn't buy it first..... So it makes me think, bulbs or fuse. or all three.... 1) Question, before I go down the multimeter route, if a bulb blows, does it kill the circuit to all bulbs? 2) Question, which number fuse on the board runs the indicators, and what else wouldn't work if this was the problem? Everything else is working ok, except I need a TPS reset , and maybe a standard X1 map reload.... Cheers in advance....

1) What is the TOTAL WATTAGE on each side. That's the relay size you need. So if you've 10W bulbs in each indicator - you need 2*10W or 20W. A 12W wont do it. 2) Some of the electronic relays simply will not respond if you get it wrong. Some are also VERY sensible to pin orientation. They do not support reverse voltage. If it were me I'd bridge the relay to start with and check the circuits/fuse. Nah just kidding - METER NOW and stop pissing about. |
